Moose provides canine care to UP hospital patients
ISHPEMING, Mich. - Moose walks through the halls of Bell Hospital at the side of his owner Jim Mager.Nurses in scrubs, X-ray technicians, even the hospital's CEO pop out of offices and clinics to greet the pair.
They enter the obstetrics ward and are ushered into one of the birthing suites where Hannah Johnson of Negaunee is waiting with her son Zackary, only a few days old.
Moose sits quietly beside Johnson and puts his head in her lap next to Zackary as she strokes his soft coat. At 130 pounds, Moose -- a Great Pyrenees with a thick coat of white hair -- is a big dog with a big job to do.
He's a certified therapy dog.
"He's the celebrity. I'm just his chauffeur," Mager said, laughing...read more.
